How to write effective English?

1. Vary short sentences with long ones.
He knew that he had failed. Again.

2. The order of words matters.
Little did he know that he was about to die.

Instead of
He did not know he was about to die.

3. Use euphemisms in the right places.
Instead of-"He didn't know he was to die that day", write-"He didn't know that that day was his last".

4. Stop using 'really', 'extremely','very' etc
Why use really pretty when you can use gorgeous? The journey was not very risky, it was perilous.

The child was terrified.

Instead of
The child was very afraid.

5. Use rhetorical questions.
Why use really pretty when you can use gorgeous?

Instead of
Don't use really pretty, use gorgeous.

6.  Don't forget horrifically cutting similes.
Her voice was as smooth as butter.

Instead of
She had a smooth voice.
